Abstract:
Good probe and primer design is at the heart of any successful real-time qPCR assay. Watch this webinar to learn the principles of oligo sequence selection while using LGC Biosearch Technologies’ free RealTimeDesign™ Software (RTD), available online. Whether a beginning or seasoned practitioner of qPCR, scientists can use RealTimeDesign software to create probes and primers for all manner of quantification, including gene expression analysis and SNP genotyping.
This webinar will cover fundamental principles of probe design, including the influence of sequence length and binding stability upon quenching efficiency and the signal response. We discuss how to overcome difficult target sequences that present repetitive elements or disproportionate base composition. We continue by discussing advanced features of RealTimeDesign, including the ability to restrict oligos to a certain region of sequence, as necessary to tolerate or else distinguish between gene families and closely-related species. RealTimeDesign is a sophisticated bioinformatic engine that can be customized to suit consequential applications like marker-assisted selection and infectious disease detection.
